Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora Waitematā places great value on high quality research and related activity that includes clinical audit, recognising it as an integral component of the organisations purpose that will translate to best care for everyone. 

To this end Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora Waitematā has set in place a Research Governance Group to; 

- Define the Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora Waitematā research strategy
- Promote appropriate research programmes
- Provide a high level strategic overview to the conduct of, and processes that, support research and related activity
- Ensure visibility and transparency of research activity in Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora Waitematā
- Be a point of escalation for research issues

The Research Governance Group meets quarterly.
