The Research & Knowledge Centre is pleased to offer access to an in-house statistical service for those needing advice about the design and analysis of research, audit and evaluation activities. **Your project should already be registered with us to make use of this service**. Individual appointments can be arranged by emailing your protocol to [waitemataresearch@tewhatuora.govt.nz](mailto:waitemataresearch@tewhatuora.govt.nz) .

We recommend that you consider taking advantage of this opportunity, as our experience indicates that a well-designed methodology and analysis plan leads to higher quality outcomes and therefore greater certainty in the application of these results to clinical practice. The statistics consultations are intended to provide **advice** on topics such as:

- Trial design
- Calculation of sample size
- Discussion of appropriate statistical tests or approach
- Explanation of statistical concepts or terminology
- Data required to answer the research question
- Data collection and management
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Optimising graphics or display of results
- Use of Excel, SPSS, R and Strata statistical software
